Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Medical College,
more commonly known as "BJ Medical", is probably the best medical college in Gujarat state, and one of the leading colleges in the country. Situated in Asarwa in Ahmedabad, the main campus houses the B. J. Medical College and the New Civil Hospital - which is the teaching hospital which the college is affiliated to.
BJ medical college stands one of the top institutes for studies in medical education career. B J stands for Byaramjee jijibhoi, a Parsi donor who helped in foundation of the institution which is now training 250 medical and more than 300 paramedical undergraduates each year.
The college hostels are situated in the same campus of civil hospital and they include A,B,C blocks for undergraduate medical students, besides dental, nursing & physiotherapy students have their own separate hostels. There are accomodations for post-graduate resident doctors and staff quarters.
The College grounds have the gym, the badminton hall (a.k.a. "Baddie Hall"), the Carrom room& Table Tennis room. outside there is a ground for cricket(or football) and basketball court. there is one auditorium for cultural activities and a good loan-garden in front of the college.
Admission to the college is very tough, with only a top few percent of the HSC board rankers getting in. However, once a student gets into the college, he/she changes a lot (whether for the better or worse, is subjective - depending on whether you are a student, parent, or a professor !).
