STIPEND HIKE 48% this time

Few days backward, news came to flow which had been waiting for long , stipend of all resident doctors as well as interns were increased up to 48% from what it has been now. This means a hefty rise of  12-13k for the Post graduate residents and also a rise of around 3600 for interns. The rise came after GuARD (Gujarat Association of Residents Doctors) had declared to go on strike in all medical colleges of Gujarat if the demand of stipend rise was not fulfilled. This was followed by residents associations of all government and self finance medical colleges gave notice for a token strike on 11th August. Suddenly the government, who was on consideration and had promised to agree with stipend hike, came into action fearing state wise strike by doctors and released a press notice stating health minister Nitinbhai Patel that stipend will be hiked by 48% and that will be effective from 1st April 2015. Which was followed by official release of GR that confirmed the news and put an end to the uncertainties. However residents were sure that the government will be positive as it has promised three years back to revise stipends on the previous GR on 19/09/2009. And also JDA (Junior Doctors Association) of civil hospital was in talk with superintendent Dr. Prabhakar since last few months, who has also assured to the residents and to be mediator between government and resident doctors. And as a result, with the instructions from chief minister Mrs Anandiben Patel, around 1900 resident PG doctors, 200 superspeciality residents and around 900 interns will get stipend hike from 1st April 2015. The new stipend rates will be as following:
