It was 26th July, the day which was come with terrifying blasts in the city. After so many blasts in the city, nobody had ever expected same can occur in our civil hospital also. that evening made all of us very scared and terrified. It showed atrocity of the terrorists in india. Even in world war nobody with little humanity had ever harmed already harmed people. but these blasts in hospitals shows how barbarous they are!
It happened on 26th in the evening when everybody was to go home after their work. and soon after that the city trembled with terror with serial blasts that occurred one after other. we were watching news about blasts in TV in our hostel tv room. at that time nobody was expecting that next target was civil hospital. Some of the final year students were at the Trauma Center to help those injured people who were coming from different areas. some of my friends were returning from IAMS classes after hearing about the blasts. some were on their emergency day at hospital. some were just passing by trauma center. nobody predicted that the way they are passing will be the way of dead bodies. The Trauma Ward was crowded with patients and their relatives. besides many doctors and civil staff and Pradipsinh Jadeja was also there who had come to observe situation. The outside parking was also crowding by patients and their relatives. At that time an ambulance comes and two patients are taken out from it and a blast occurs near it. However nobody knows how exactly it occured and some suspect there be a suiside bomber. but whatever it may be it had created mass casualty around the area of 50 ft. The blast was so explosive that some parts of human organs flung away in the ground about 100ft away from the place. soon after blast fire caught some people near blast and they ran away burning. it was a terrifying scene. Fire burnt some vehicles so much that they were unidentifiable. The ambulance was nowhere and one tire was there at the place. the engine flew away to stuck with trauma center wall. it was the most powerful blast among all blast that occured that day. some metal parts were flew up to the terrace of our two-storey hostel B-block.
when we heard of the noice all ran into the ground. nobody understood what to do for a moment. when some dared to go near the site second blast occured which was probably due to gas cyllinder. then everybody got scared. The place was full of blood and daed bodies. The trauma center wall was burnt to black. it's floor was full of blood and fleshes scattered. everyone was trying to understand what to do. After five minutes or so police had arrived and fire-brigade followed. The fire was extinguished. It was over. They had done their cruel work and there was casualty everywhere.
After the blast, there was emergency in each department of the hospital. Resident doctors from each department from surgery to skin, from opthalm to anesthesia gathered quickly. our civil suprintendent dr Anchalia and our Dean were also there. trauma center was damaged. doors and windows were blasted. furniture was broken. so they arranged c2 ward for casualty. at c2 there was war like condition. everyone be it student or professer or volunteer were there and doing as possible as they can to rescue dying people. everyone did his best so till midnight there was no casualty and rest are transferred to ward and operation theatre. we woke till late night. one of our junior was injured in groin. one physiotherapy student was injured badly in neck. our anesthesist senior had also injuries over hand and arm. the worst news was that our 4th year ortho resident and his pregnant wife died at the site. Despite of these civil doctors maintained their courage and worked their best possible efforts.
the day after the blast civil campus was full of people coming from everywhere. some were coming to just visit while some to see their relatives. The ground was full of vehicles and vans of press reporters and police and authority personnels. The polititions were visiting morbid site for two to three days. But full marks to all civil staff and all doctors who did a splendid job and made endless effort to normalise life and maintained courage in patients.
